Director of Clinical Informatics Innovation
PurpleLab® is seeking a visionary and experienced MD Informaticist to join our clinical team, driving innovation and new product development in health informatics. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in vocabulary and messaging standards, clinical and payer data, software / tooling, and the ability to mentor / guide both clinical and technical teams. This role requires a thought leader who can leverage RWE to design and implement innovative informatics products, guide creation of tooling that improve healthcare delivery, and contribute to defining the future of health IT.
Responsibilities:
Innovation Management and New Product Development
- Oversee the clinical informatics innovation pipeline from concept to completion
- Identify emerging trends and technologies in the RWE industry to drive continuous improvement and competitive advantage.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to integrate innovation into the overall business strategy
- Collaborate with software teams to enhance existing / create new informatics tools for internal and external customers
- Stay current with evolving Health IT and payer policies, identifying opportunities to incorporate these developments into new tools and processes.
- Design, develop, and guide implementation of innovative informatics solutions and products, leveraging knowledge of healthcare vocabulary and messaging standards (e.g., HL7 FHIR, SNOMED CT, LOINC, ICD10CM, DRG, APC etc. vocabularies) as well as RWE.
- Author and refine value sets used to define patient cohorts in quality measures and other uses
Leadership and Mentorship
- Lead, mentor, and inspire cross-functional technical teams to achieve organizational goals.
- Provide strategic guidance and oversight for team members working on informatics projects, ensuring alignment with business goals and industry standards.
Health IT Industry Expertise
- Serve as a subject matter expert in Health IT policy and payer policy, advising on their integration into organizational strategies and solutions.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including policymakers, healthcare providers, and payers.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- MD or equivalent medical degree is required.
Certifications:
- Board certification in Clinical Informatics or equivalent informatics certifications strongly preferred
- Fellow of the American Medical Informatics Association (FAMIA) is a plus.
- Experience:
- Extensive experience in health informatics, with a focus on vocabulary and messaging standards (e.g., HL7, FHIR, SNOMED, LOINC, ICD10-CM, etc.).
- Proven expertise in guiding technical teams to develop informatics tools using to author value sets, etc.
- Knowledge of how claims-level data can inform providers at the point of care or population level
- Demonstrated knowledge of Health IT policy, payer policy, and regulatory compliance.
- Leadership experience in guiding and mentoring technical teams.
