Senior Accountant

PurpleLab® is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Senior Accountant to join our growing Finance team. This role offers a unique opportunity to leverage your accounting expertise within a dynamic SaaS environment. The ideal candidate will bring 3-5 years of experience in accounting, proficiency in QuickBooks, and a solid understanding of SaaS revenue recognition principles. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring financial accuracy, managing key accounting functions, and contributing to the company’s financial success. This is a full-time onsite role.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting, including preparing and posting month-end accrual, prepaid entries, fixed asset, capitalized software, payroll, commissions, and other miscellaneous entries.
  • Handle deferred revenue schedules and ensure proper reporting in line with accounting principles.
  • Prepare month-end account reconciliations, research and resolve issues timely, and assist with the preparation of financial statements.
  • Oversee AP. Review and enter vendor bills ensuring proper coding to GL account, and transactions are posted appropriately to the correct accounting period. Reconcile vendor statements and correct discrepancies.
  • Perform bank reconciliations and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Prepare and analyze expense reports, ensuring compliance with company policies and ensure all transactions are coded correctly and reconcile monthly.
  • Support billing operations, ensuring accuracy in revenue recognition and compliance with SaaS standards.
  • Responsible for AR management, collections, commissions tracking and processing.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to manage and report on financial data.
  • Maintain and improve internal controls to safeguard company assets.
  • Assist in preparing reports for internal and external stakeholders, providing financial insights and recommendations.
  • Liaise with external auditors and support audit processes as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of professional accounting experience, ideally in a SaaS environment.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks and advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, with experience in deferred revenue and revenue recognition.
  • Experience managing accounts payable and expense reports.
  • Exceptional analytical and organizational skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills across teams and levels.
